Clayton - Van Douglas Whitley, age 65, died Tuesday January 2, 2023 at his home.  Born October 21, 1957 in Johnston County to the late Joseph Ewell and Ruby Narron Whitley, he was the widower of Mary Ann Sauls and was preceded in death by a brother Larry Whitley.  Van was an HVAC and plumbing technician.

No formal services are planned at this time.

Surviving are his son, Joseph Douglas Whitley of Bristol, VA; brother, Jimmy Whitley and wife Shawn of Knightdale and two granddaughters.
