Selma – Claude Thomas "Tom" Harris, age 79, passed away Monday July 18, 2022 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was born in Wake County on July 20, 1942 to the late Claude Oliver Harris and Virginia Holt Harris. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Doug Harris.

A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Friday July 22, 2022 at 12 noon. The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Friday one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Harris is survived by wife of 56 years, Patricia Broughton Harris of Selma; sons, Tommy Harris of Smithfield, Scottie Harris of Selma; sisters, Louise Gilmore and husband Jerry of Clayton, Sue Myatt and husband Jerry of Garner.

Mr. Harris was a member and deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Selma. When not working, he could be found at the Cardinal Country Club or on the ball field. He played in many tournaments and set many records playing horseshoes. He was very active in the community's athletic programs.
