Tammy Owens Hunt, age 61, of Smithfield passed away at her home on November 30, 2021.  Born on July 31, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Leon and Janet Daughtry Owens.  Tammy was a retired caseworker at the Johnston County Department of Social Services.  She was a member of The Bridge in Smithfield.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 3, in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens near Smithfield.

Surviving are her brothers, Elmer Leon Owens, Jr. and wife Judy of Winterville, Jon Owens and wife Jennifer of Selma; her companion Joe Fann; her god-daughter Venessa Salinas; niece Brook Mitchell and nephew Reid Owens; and five great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Johnston County Animal Protection League.
