Smithfield- Ronald Allen Hardee, age 92, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at UNC Johnston Health Hospital in Smithfield. Born in Prince George County, Virginia on February 14, 1930, he was a son to the late David Hardee and Juanita Thornton.

Ronald served in the United States AirForce for 22 years. He enjoyed working on classic cars, raking leaves and working in his yard. In his free time, Ronald loved to eat at the Shiny Diner and traveling to Spain. In addition to his travels, he enjoyed teaching himself the Spanish language. Ronald loved his cat Tom, watching the Atlanta Braves, and his Booger (Allison). He also loved his many visits from his cousin Roy Dixon (Uncle Bus). He was a longtime friend and a huge blessing and help throughout Ronald's illness.

In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his wife, Nina Hardee, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Selma Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to speak with friends at the graveside following the service.

Ronald is survived by his sons, Daniel Hardee and wife Deborah of Pine Level; Gary Hardee and wife Caryle of Warrensville; daughter, Catherine Whitley and husband Terry of Smithfield; grandchildren, Latham Hardee and wife Kayla; Austin Yansom and husband Ben; Allison Whitley; Macey Hardee; and great grandchildren, James Cherry; Mary Catherine Yansom; Whitley Yansom; and Malia Sharpe.
