Selma – Roberta "Bert" Brown, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday April 7, 2023 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield after a period of declining health. She was born in Wilson county on November 10, 1945 to the late Andrew Jackson Hollomon and Mary Betty Cox Hollomon. In addition to her mother and father, she is also preceded in death by a husband, Wayne Brown; step son, Jeffrey Brown and several brothers and sisters.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Tuesday April 11, 2023 from 1 to 2 PM. A graveside service will follow directly after the visitation in Price Cemetery on Tuesday.

Bert is survived by a son, Derek Brown and wife Tracy of Princeton; a brother, Robert Fulton Hollomon of Clayton; a granddaughter, Traclyn Clark of Princeton.

Bert was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and also worked for the Smithfield Herald Newspaper for 34 years as well as 6 years with WTSB Radio Station. In her later years one of her greatest joys was caring for her 3 cats.
