SMITHFIELD – Robert Harold Gordon, age 77, died Friday morning, December 13, 2019 in the Brian Center of Clayton.  He was born May 23, 1942 in Johnston County to the late Robert Alfred and Eula Norris Gordon.  Harold worked with Johnston County as a heavy equipment operator for more than 30 years before retiring.  In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the bass guitar.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Jasper Renfrow officiating.  Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery near Four Oaks.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.

Surviving are his daughter, Donna Gordon Atkinson and husband Ray of Smithfield; son, Douglas Harold Gordon and wife Belinda of Selma; brother, Charles Gordon and wife Nancy of Smithfield; sister, Eloise Willoughby of Newport News, VA; grandsons, Ricky Sanders, Jr., wife Genelle and their son Timothy all of Corpus Christy, TX and Robert Waylon Lamm, wife Brittney and their daughter, Emalyn all of Smithfield and feline companion Tinker.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Johnston County Animal Services, P. O. Box 1049, Smithfield, NC  27577.
