SMITHFIELD – Morris Ray Thompson, Sr. age 80, died Thursday morning, October 17, 2019, at his home.  He was born October 5, 1939 in Johnston County to the late Jessie and Ella Thompson.  Ray owned and operated Ray's Garage from 1972 to present. He loved fishing and working on his antique cars.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2019 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Brennan Hurley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Smithfield.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. just prior to the service or at other times at the home of Dale and Lynette Thompson, 4542 Steven's Sausage Road, Smithfield, NC.

Surviving are his wife, Janice Gerrell Thompson; sons, Morris Ray Thompson, Jr and wife Natasha, Dale Thompson and wife Lynette and Roger Thompson and wife Tracy all of Smithfield; grandchildren, Amanda Thornton (John), Tyler Thompson, Karen Thompson, Katlyn Peedin (Adam), Brandon Thompson, Tonya Brummett, Haley Williams and Ethan Williams and great-grandchildren, Carter Thornton, Easton Thornton and Baby Peedin (Due in 2020).
