Pine Level – Josephine Howell Capps, age 85 passed away Friday April 21, 2023 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. She was born in Johnston County on May 10, 1937 to the late Lonnie Howell and Pearl Lee Howell. In addition to her mother and father, she is also preceded in death by her husband, James Capps; 1 brother and 3 sisters.

A private family graveside service will be held in Micro Memorial Gardens on Monday April 24, 2023 with Rev. Matthew Cornett officiating.

Josephine is survived by son, Ken Capps and wife Connie of Pine Level; daughter, Nancy Woodard and husband Kenny of Pine Level; grandchildren, Kelly Melby and husband James of Kenly, Caitlyn Capps of Clayton; 5 step grandchildren of Fayetteville; 12 step great grandchildren of Fayetteville; 4 great great grandchildren of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews.
