Smithfield – John Douglas Blizzard Jr., age 84, passed away Wednesday December 1, 2021 at Duke Regional Hospital. He was born in Dillon, SC on November 26, 1937 to the late John Blizzard Sr. and Sue Lytton Blizzard.

A funeral service will be held at Centenary UMC on Saturday December 4, 2021 at 2 PM. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 1 PM to 2 PM. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield. The family respectfully request that all in attendance for the service wear a mask.

Mr. Blizzard was a long-time member of Centenary UMC where he also served in the choir for many years. He was a 1960 graduate of The Citadel-The Military College of South Carolina, United States Air Force Veteran, member of the Kiwanis, and retired as HR director for Channel Master.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Judi Blizzard of the home; son, Doug Blizzard and wife Wanda of Smithfield; daughter, Suzanne Boutwell and husband Keith of Cary; sister, Betsy Lee and husband Jerry of Brunswick, GA; grandchildren, Camden Blizzard, Hannah Blizzard and Megan Boutwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Centenary UMC Memorial Fund or to Centenary UMC choir.
