Middlesex – Joe Onnie Edwards, Jr., age 69, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020, at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh. He was born the son of the late Joe Onnie and Lottie Corbett Edwards on June, 10, 1950, in Wilson County. Mr. Edwards was a lifetime member at Antioch Baptist Church in Middlesex. Mr. Joe retired from the U.S.D.A after 20 years of service. Some of his favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mrs. Elaine E. Edwards; daughters, Cindy E. Edwards and husband Stevie of Four Oaks, Alison E. Joyner and husband Scott of Clayton, and Ella E. Harrison and husband Kevin of Smithfield; sister, Brenda Foscue of Middlesex; and grandchildren, Ben and Lainey Edwards, Joshua Casey and Tyler Harrison.
