Selma-James Claude Eason Jr., age 76, passed away at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Born in Durham County on May 22, 1945, he was a son to the late James Claude Eason and Betty Mae Bass Eason. James was a Vietnam Army Veteran. James was a family man and loved his parents dearly, caring for them both as they aged. He was a good husband, father, and grandfather to his grandchildren, which he affectionately called his "grandchickens". In his earlier years, James enjoyed fishing and hunting.

A graveside service will be held at Selma Memorial Gardens on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11 AM.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, John L. Eason, and sister, Betty Lou Eason Finez.

James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Robbins Eason of Smithfield; son, James Brian Eason and wife Felicia of Kenly; daughter, Kimberly Joy Eason Boone of Goldsboro; and grandchildren, Eli, Kaili, Caleb, Jaden, Emily, and Cameron.
