Irene Wiggs Braswell, age 87, died Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Johnston UNC Health in Smithfield. Born September 18, 1934 in Wayne County she was a daughter of the late William Manis and Margaret Pate Wiggs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Braswell; daughter, Marlene Summerlin; and brother Charles A. Wiggs. Irene was a member of Tee's Chapel FWB Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2021 in Tee's Chapel FWB Church with Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the church just prior to the service.

Surviving are her son, Marcus Braswell and wife Georgia of Pine Level; son-in-law, Randy Summerlin of Smithfield; brother, Ray Wiggs of Pikeville; sister, Louise Minix of Florida; grandchildren, Crystal Johnson and husband Jeremiah, Chad Summerlin and wife Kadie; Maria Creech and husband Chris and Braxton Braswell; and great grandchildren, Aubrey, Maisen, Audrey, Stella and Luke.

Irene was a housewife and in later years worked for the Council on Aging as the coordinator at the Princeton Senior Center.
