Smithfield – Geraldine Thompson Gurley, age 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 5, 2020, in her home in Smithfield. She was born a daughter of the late David Thompson and Ila Ford Thompson on January 15, 1929, in Johnston County. She is preceded in death by her husband James Lloyd Gurley and her son Lloyd Gurley Jr. She worked with the state of North Carolina for 30 years as a lunchroom manager in the public school system and she was a member of Steven's Chapel Baptist Church in Smithfield.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 8 ^th , 2020, at 11:30 a.m. in the Creeches Cemetery in Smithfield. The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

She is survived by her son, Russell Gurley and wife Tina Gurley of Smithfield, daughter, Trudy Rains and husband Al Rains of Smithfield, brother, Fitz Thompson of Smithfield, five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. The family would like to offer a special thanks to all her caretakers.
