Smithfield – Elias Owen Phillips, age 88, passed away Friday May 27, 2022 at his home in Smithfield. He was born in Johnston County on May 27, 1934 to the late Lathan Elias Phillips and Florence Williams Phillips.

A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Tuesday May 31, 2022 at 2 PM. The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 PM to 2 PM. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.

Mr. Phillips is survived by wife, Barbara Benson Phillips; a son, Jeff Phillips and wife Tiny of Smithfield; sister, Maxine Lassiter and husband Benton of Holly Ridge; grandsons, Ethan Phillips, Brooks Phillips and wife Jennifer; great grandchild, Nora Phillips.

Mr. Phillips was a member at West Calvary FWB Church and filled many roles within the church such as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also worked for Coca Cola as a service technician for nearly 43 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on antique clocks.
