Edna Southerland Peedin Jackson, age 94, passed away Friday morning, March 24, 2023 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born July 12, 1928 in Johnston County she was the daughter of the late Needham Ransom and Myrtie Beasley Southerland. She was preceded in death by both husbands, Norman Ross Peedin and Gene Faison Jackson; son, Norman Ross Peedin, Jr.; brothers, Needham Ransom Southerland, Jr. and William Southerland; and granddaughter, Brandy Peedin Adams.  Edna was a member of Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church in Pine Level. She enjoyed visits with her family, friends and church family. Often times when you came to visit Edna, she could be found sitting at her backdoor watching the deer graze behind her house. One of Edna's favorite pastimes was dancing. She always looked forward to Thursday's when she would go dancing at the Moose Lodge.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2023 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Scott and Rev. Brian Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home just prior to the service.

Surviving are her son, Mark Alan Peedin and wife Darla Parker Peedin of Selma; daughter, Joy Peedin Parham of Wilson; grandchildren, Mitchell Peedin and wife Lexie, Daniel Peedin, Jacob Peedin and wife Michelle, Walt Parham and wife Jessica, Janna Parham Issette and husband Glenn, Steven R. Peedin and wife Angela, Blair Peedin Runzo and husband Tom; great grandchildren, Penelope Peedin, Finn Peedin, Nate Peedin, Carson Peedin, Dylan Peedin, Grant Issette, Baron Runzo, Milana Runzo, John Ross Peedin, Megan Peedin, River Adams and Forrest Adams; step great granddaughters, Daylin Watson, Sara Watson and Aleyna Watson.
