Smithfield – Douglas Brent Tyner, age 71, passed away March 31, 2021 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. He was born in Johnston County on July 1, 1949 to the late Leon and Clara Whitley Tyner. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by an uncle, Leon Whitley. A graveside service will be held at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday April 5, 2021 at 10 AM. Mr. Tyner is survived by brother, Dennis Tyner and wife Joyce of Smithfield; nephew, Craig Tyner and wife Sharron of Brogden; niece, Kimberly Pickett and husband Scott of Smithfield; great nephew's, Nicholas Matthews, Austin Tyner, Aiden Tyner, William Pickett; great niece's, Kaitlyn Pickett and Brooklyn Pickett; friend, Kathy Gentle. Mr. Tyner enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, cars, and animals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA.
