Donnie Joseph Rhodes, age 76, died Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.  Born February 17, 1947, at home in Johnston County he was a son of the late Joseph Thomas and Ruby Marie Moore Rhodes, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Rhodes Cuddington, brother Jimmy R. Rhodes and niece, Amy Cuddington Mitchell.  Donnie loved plants of all types and often took plants that others thought had died and was able to get them to thrive again.  He also loved his dogs and animals in general.  He worked with Sylvania for several years until they closed the plant here at which time he went to work with Bolton's Florist in Smithfield for many years.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. in the Princeton Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating.  Mr. Rhodes will lie in state at Parrish Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon on Saturday.

Surviving are several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.
