Selma – David Jasper Gooding, age 76, died Monday, August 26, 2019 at his home. Born July 28, 1943 in Lenoir County he was a son of the late Glenn Stanley and Zeppie Elizabeth Pate Gooding. David owned and operated Gooding's Tire Service in Smithfield from 1962 until July 2016.  David was known for his honesty, kindness, dependability and always putting others before self.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service at the funeral home.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Brenda Lassiter Gooding; daughter, Judy Gooding Davis of Smithfield; son, David Jasper Gooding, Jr. and wife Shannon Stephenson Gooding of the Cleveland Community brother, Jim Daughety of San Antonio, TX; and four grandsons, Zachary Daniel Davis, Seth David Gooding, Cole Michael Davis and Blake Greyson Gooding;Companion, Rusty.
