Costa William Hocutt, Jr., age 94, of Wilson, formerly of Smithfield, passed away on November 24, 2019.  Born in Johnston County on February 12, 1925, he was the son of the late Costa William and Annie Narron Hocutt.  He was preceded in death by two children, Robert Hocutt and Renee' Hocutt Johnson and five siblings.  Mr. Hocutt served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He retired from both the United States Postal Service and the North Carolina ABC Board.  He was a member of Smithfield Fellowship Lodge # 84 and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 121 in Smithfield where he served two terms as Worthy Patron.  He was also a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Smithfield.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 30, at 2:30 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with Rev. Robert Flynn officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday beginning at 2:00 pm.

Surviving are his wife, Verlia Stephenson Hocutt; step-son, David A. Creech, Jr. and wife Darlene of Selma; step-daughter Ava C. Thompson and husband Tommy of Wendell; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
