Christine Ezzell Gardner, age 92, of Smithfield, passed away on May 26, 2020.  Born in Wayne County on April 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Naomi Benton Ezzell.   Her husband, J. B. Gardner, passed away in 1982.  Christine was an active member of Yelverton Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 28, at 1:30 PM in Yelverton Grove Original FWB Church, 1094 Yelverton Grove Rd., Smithfield, NC.  The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.

Mrs. Gardner is survived by four children, Rose Peedin of Smithfield, Durwood Gardner and wife Kaye of Smithfield, Darlene Long and husband Glenn of Southport and Wendy Oldham and husband Greg of Smithfield; eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Gardner asked that memorials be made to the YFA Youth Group at Yelverton Grove OFWB Church, c/o Carolyn Stallings, 3080 Hwy 70 East Business, Smithfield, NC 27577.
