Bonnie Kay Creech Baker, age 69 of Smithfield, NC, transitioned to her eternal heavenly home on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at SECU Hospice House with her loving husband, Rayvon, and some of her beloved family by her side.

Bonnie was born April 21, 1954, in Johnston County. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Lester Creech, and mother, Mary Esther Brown Creech.

Bonnie is survived by her siblings, Barbara McLemore of Selma, NC, Mary Jo Holloman and husband Ned of Pine Level, NC, Russell Creech and wife Sandy of Micro, NC.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Rayvon Baker, and their two daughters, Lisa Marie Baker Perez (Gabe) of Smithfield, NC and Karen Renee Allen and husband Stephen of Four Oaks, NC.

Bonnie was blessed to be nanny to six grandchildren: Riley Devereux, Emily Devereux, Johnathen Allen, Christopher Allen, Katie Allen, Mackenzie Allen.

Bonnie loved children. She operated an in-home daycare for more than 15 years. Bonnie's passion was her gift of singing and playing the piano. At 5 years old she sang for the first time at church. Her daddy played the guitar while Bonnie held the songbook upside down. At 12 years old, Bonnie learned to play the piano by ear. Throughout her life, she sang and played the piano at several Church of God churches.

For the past 10 years, Bonnie has been a member of the River Oak Church of God in Selma, NC. Bonnie taught Sunday school, ministered in song and played the piano. One of her favorite outreach ministries took place from 2016 until 2020. Bonnie and Rayvon visited the SECU Hospice House every other Sunday after church. During these visits, Bonnie ministered to patients by singing acapella.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Parrish Funeral Home with her pastor Michelle Allen officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. just prior to the service. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.
