Smithfield – Betsy Remonia Mitchell, age 79, passed away Tuesday May 24, 2022 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. She was born in Johnston County on July 14, 1942 to the late Leslie Mozingo and Mozelle Whitley Mozingo. In addition to her mother and father, she is also preceded in death by brothers, Bobby, Norwood, C.R. and Jerry Mozingo; sisters, Edna Moore and Gwen Smiley; grandson, Stephen Askew.

A memorial service will be held on Friday May 27, 2022 at 10 AM at Bakers Chapel Church 2421 Bakers Chapel Rd, Smithfield. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service and after the service in the fellowship hall.

She is survived by sons, Tony Mitchell and wife Darlene of Smithfield, Shelton Mitchell and wife Caroline of Kenly; daughter, Marsha Blackman and husband Mike of Angier; brothers, Frankie Mozingo and wife Laverne, Don Mozingo and wife Libby, Eddie Mozingo and wife Marilyn; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mitchell attended Bakers Chapel Church.
