Audrey Barnes Creech, age 91, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in Wilson, NC. She was born August 29, 1930, in Smithfield NC to her parents Nancy and Lafayette Barnes. She fell in love with her husband, Heba Leo "Pud" Creech, as high school sweethearts. Audrey was a bookkeeper for Steven's Sausage Co. for many years and was active in the family farm management. She was committed to her family, community and many special friends. Audrey was a talented cook and seamstress, as well as a longtime volunteer with Sanders Chapel UMC, The Optimist Club, Ponoma -Creech Community Center, Home Demonstration Club, Pine Level Senior's Club and Health Quest. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, hunting, fishing and baseball games. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Donald Barnes.

Mrs. Audrey will lay in state at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Yelverton Grove Church Cemetery with Rev. Joe Ballance officiating.

She is survived by her two daughters; Teresa Creech Parker of Wilson, Anita Creech Gurkin (Johnny Gurkin) of Carolina Beach, son-in-law Butch Parker of Wilson; four grandchildren, Delana Parker Rountree (Robert Rountree) of Wilson, Brett Creech Parker (Alyssa Parker) of Youngsville, Jordan Audrea Lee (Connor Lee) of Winnabow, Dr. Brett Gurkin (Dr. Nadine Antonelli) of Wilmington; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Rose Parker and Margaret Parker Rountree.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sanders Chapel UMC and/or to Yelverton Grove FWB Church.
