Smithfield---Ann Flowers Strickland, 82, of South Vermont St. passed away peacefully at her home on July 9, 2014. Born in Johnston County on November 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lula Mae Brock Flowers. Ann was a member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church for over 35 years, singing in the choir for many of those years.A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Unity FWB Church with Reverend Mike McAuley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 to 12 prior to the service.Surviving are: her husband of 61 years, Freddie Ronald Strickland; her son, Freddie Ronald "Ronnie" Strickland, Jr. of Greensboro; granddaughter, Jennifer Lane "Laney" Strickland Ford and husband Michael of Garner; great grandchildren, Pearse Ford and Lane Ford, both of Garner; adopted grandchildren, Anna Johnson, T.J. Johnson, and Emma Gore, all of Smithfield; many nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Unity Free Will Baptist Church, 104 W.
