Smithfield"Robert Eugene Beasley, 72, of 606 South First Street, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 17, 2007 after fighting a courageous two year battle with cancer. Born in Johnston County on October 20, 1934 he is the son of the late Elton and Hazel Bridgers Beasley. He was a member of Wilson's Mills Baptist Church, and retired from the Smithfield Fire Department in 1990 after serving for 23 years. He was a life long electrical contractor and was the owner of Beasley's Electrical Service. He loved fishing, bluegrass music, Nascar, but most of all his family, and enjoyed telling old stories about his life. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 2:00pm, in the Chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Revs. Billy Lawson and Tim Brown officiating, Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday May 19, 2007 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Parrish Funeral Home, in Selma.Surviving are: his wife of 52 years, Maybelle Capps Beasley, Three sons, William Capps and wife Brenda of Pine Level, Tony Beasley of Lexington, Stacy Beasley and wife Amy of Kenly, Two daughters, Debra Capps and husband Dickie of Wilson's Mills, daughter-in-law Beverly Beasley, of Lexington, Two brothers, Clifton Beasley and Howard Beasley and wife Alice all of Wilson'5 Mills Eight Grandchildren and Eight Great- Grandchildren.
