Smithfield-William "Ray" Ward, age 64, passed away Friday March 20, 2015. Born November 28, 1950 in Johnston County he is the son of Leon Ward and the late Ilene Worley Ward. Ray was a devoted Christian and love attending church every chance he got. He was preceded in death by his brother Larry Ward. Memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Surviving are his wife, Susan Ward of Smithfield; son, Bobby Ward and Pam of Selma; daughter, Lynn Sum and husband Dennis of Clayton; grandchildren, Christian Ward, and Lily Sum; brothers, Mickey Ward, Leo Worley, Russell Ward, Henry Ward, Jackie Ward, Donnie Ward, and Ken Ward; sisters, Carol Godwin, Sandra Ward, and Sylvia Massey.
