Smithfield – Jerry Higgins, age 67, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at his home.  Born October 1, 1948 in Johnston County to Dorothy Lee Higgins of Smithfield and the late Cleron Harden "H.C." Higgins he was preceded in death by his son, John Cleron "J.C." Higgins in 2007.  He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. just prior to the service.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife Rose Higgins; daughters, Beverly Higgins Creech and husband Thurman, Jr. and Amy Michelle Adams and fiancée Timmy Radford all of Smithfield; brothers, Bobby Higgins of Apex, Linwood Higgins, J.L. Higgins, Danny Higgins and Billy Higgins all of Smithfield; sisters, Clara Powell and Patsy Jackson both of Smithfield; grandchildren, Matthew Rouse Higgins, Makayla Adams, Reva Almon Higgins, Logan Capps and Bradley Braswell and one great grandchild, Lexie Braswell.
