Smithfield - Bill Ulysses Davis, age 95, died Wednesday afternoon in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.  Born June 28, 1922 in Johnston County, he was the youngest son of the late General Willard "Will" and Ila Mae Talton Davis and was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lorene Woodall Davis, who died January 17, 2013 and a son, Ronald W. "Buddy" Davis.  Bill was a longtime member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Smithfield where he had served as a church deacon.

A memorial service, with military honors, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 in the Sharon Baptist Church, 116 Britt Street, Smithfield, with the Rev. Ben Wines and the Rev. Brian Davis officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Surviving are his son, Robert B. Davis and wife Carolyn of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Shaun Bradshaw, Rev. Brian Davis, Christopher Cullen Davis and Will Davis and seven great grandchildren.
