Smithfield- Wilma "Jean" Thompson, age 82, passed away peaceful at Kitty Askins in Goldsboro on Tuesday June 27, 2023. She was born in Johnston County on September 21, 1940. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy D. Thompson, her son Mickey Thompson as well as other brothers and sisters.

Jean loved playing bingo, watching the race, doing crossword puzzles, cross stitching, and visiting with her sister Rose. She also loved taking her granddaughter shopping.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to all the staff at both Wayne UNC Healthcare and Kitty Askins for their wonderful care during this time.

A graveside service will be held on Friday June 30, 2023 at 11 am at the Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors at the home in Smithfield at other times.

Jean is survived by her daughter Vickie Jackson and husband Jason of Mount Olive; special granddaughter, Ally Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be donated to Kitty Askins Hospice Center 107 Handley Court Circle, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
