Mr. Willis Ivan Poole, age 89 of Thanksgiving VFD Road, died Friday August 7, 2009 at Liberty Commons in Benson. Born on December 3, 1919 in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Herbert and Viola Brinkley Poole. Mr. Poole was a member of the Thanksgiving Baptist Church, retired member of the volunteer Fire Department, and was retired from Sylvania. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister Virma Dunn.Funeral services will be on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 2:00pm at the Thanksgiving Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Reed and Rev. Charles Rambeau officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 until 8 at Parrish Funeral home in Selma. Mr. Poole is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jo Murphy Poole; a son, Yates Poole and wife Janice of Micro; two daughters, Sandra Sullivan and husband Wade of Selma, and Sevon Sasser and husband Bill of Garner; one brother, William Poole of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
