Selma – Willis Herbert Rea III, age 62, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, in his home of Selma. Born, January 18, 1962, in Johnston County, he was a son of Willis H. Rea Jr. and Mary Evelyn Brown. He is preceded in death by his father, Willis Herbert Rea Jr. Will was a member of Branch Chapel FWB Church in Selma. He graduated high school from Smithfield Selma Senior High School, class of 1980. Will worked as a research & development technician at the Clayton machine development center for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years. He was a hard worker and always enjoyed working on projects around the house. Will greatly enjoyed playing disc golf, he serviced many courses including one for the Clayton Parks and Rec. and designed a course also. He also enjoyed other outdoor activities such as kayaking, fishing, camping, scouting activities with his son, and motorcycles. Will enjoyed listening to music, including classic rock and classical music. He was a free spirit and a very caring man. Most of all he loved his two kids and spending time with his friends and family.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Boykin officiating.

He is survived by his mother, Evelyn B. Knight (J.C.) of Clayton, son, Wilson Rea of Pine Level, daughter, Kailey Rea of Pine Level, brother, Danny Thompson (Susan) of Surf City, sisters; Gail Kennedy (Ronnie) of Raleigh and Dina Rea of Surf City, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
