Kenly – William Bailey Murphy, age 80, passed away on Saturday, March, 23, 2024, In the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield. Born, April 10, 1943, in Greene County, he was a son of the late Zeb Murphy and Mary Sauls Murphy. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Boseman Murphy, siblings; Zeb Murphy Jr. "Stoney", James Murphy, Elizabeth Webb, Retha Jackson, Phyllis Perry and Nancy Harold. Murphy worked for both Arnold Wilbert Corporation as well as Mills Vault Co. for several years. Until, in 1978, he went to work for Elton Parrish at Parrish Funeral Home as the grave man. He enjoyed doing farm work. Working with cows and hogs as well as tending his garden. In his spare time, he also loved to fish and spending time laughing and carrying on with his friends. Most of all he loved his kids, grandkids and family.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00pm in the Kenly Cemetery.

He is survived by his sons; William Murphy Jr. and wife Kim of Lucama, Michael Murphy of Kenly, daughter, Crystal Murphy of Smithfield, sister, Patsy McCullen of Wilson, grandchildren; Anthony Murphy, David Murphy, Jordan Barbee, Jessica Barbee, Drake Edgerton, Mark Edgerton Jr., great-grandchildren; Everleigh Murphy, Nathan Murphy, William Horton, Owen Horton, Maci Murphy, and Samantha Walsh as well as many nieces and nephews.
