Vicki was a woman of quiet strength, kindness and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She carried a calm and gentle spirit that brought comfort to everyone around her. A devoted Registered Nurse, she dedicated much of her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. She was meticulous with record-keeping and remarkably organized, faithfully maintaining medication lists and daily health records. Her attention to detail reflected the same responsibility that made her such a compassionate nurse.
Vicki found joy in simple pleasures. She loved the beach, lighthouses, cherished time with family and seemed to have a special gift for attracting every neighborhood cat in need of food, affection or a safe place to rest. While she often insisted, she didn’t know how to cook, those fortunate enough to enjoy her hamburger casserole would have disagreed. She was the keeper of family stories and history, preserving memories and connections that might otherwise have been forgotten. Family was the center of her world and she played an important role in helping to raise and nurture the children she loved.
Though a rapid decline in health brought her earthly journey to an end, Vicki’s legacy of compassion, generosity and selfless love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her giving nature, her caring heart and the tissues she always kept tucked under her sleeve – just like Mema and Aunt Sarah! Her presence will be deeply missed but her kindness, love and the memories she created will remain with her family forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rheumatology Research Foundation or to the church or charity of one’s choice. https://www.rheumresearch.org/donate
