Thomas J. Cvitan, lovingly known as Tom, passed away on January 31, 2026, at the age of 82, in Pikeville, North Carolina.

Originally from New Jersey, Tom moved south 27 years ago with his sister, Bernice Blansett, who lovingly cared for him for the entirety of that time. Tom was a beloved brother and uncle whose life was shaped by faith, friendship, and a wonderful sense of humor. He had a way of bringing smiles to those around him, often through a quick joke, a playful comment, or simply his unique outlook on life.

Tom lived with physical and developmental challenges, including blindness, but he never let those define him. Instead, he focused on the things that brought him joy. He especially enjoyed bowling, music, watching television, and spending time with his friends and family. His church and faith were central to his life, offering him comfort, purpose, and a strong sense of community.

Those who knew Tom will remember his humor, his gentle spirit, and the quiet happiness he found in everyday moments. He leaves behind many fond memories and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Bizzell Grove Holiness Church. All those attending are asked to meet at the flagpole.
