Sylvia Gaye Pearce Thompson, 81, passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family. A native of Johnston Co., she was the daughter of the late Jarvis and Maddie Evans Pearce. She was a member of the Church of Faith in Selma.

Memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Sunday June 19, 2022 at Church of Faith in Selma. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church from 5:00 – 6:00 PM just prior to the service at the church.

Along with her parents Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, James Ashley " J. A. " Thompson; brothers, Freddy Pearce and Ashworth Pearce; sisters, Peggy Jone, Barbara McKinney and Sybil Snipes.

Surviving are her sons, James E. Thompson and wife Kelly, Pine Bluff, Ark., Roger L. Thompson and wife Cheryl from Smithfield, NC and Jeffery N. Thompson and wife Tanya of Smithfield, NC.; brothers; Bernie Pearce of Pine Level and Thomas Pearce and wife Lisa of Archer Lodge; grandchildren, Sally Thompson, Jamie Narron and husband Steve, Neal Thompson and wife Jessica, Ashley Beasley  and husband Joe,  Wesley Thompson and wife Amanda, Jennifer Throneberry and husband Jason, Theresa Tidwell and husband Jason and Robert Ratola; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild
