Shirley Dix Crews, age 73, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born in Halifax, Virginia, on October 3, 1950, she was a daughter to the late Howard E. Dix and Hazel Matthews.

Shirley was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was a cat lover, very talented at crocheting, a great cook, and loved her family dearly. Shirley enjoyed traveling the country with her loving husband, Henry, of 48 years. She was very loving and caring, and always had a smile on her face.

A memorial service will be held at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church at 5225 Fort Ave, Lynchburg, VA from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 28, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org, or the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her brother, William "Billy" Dix.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Archer Crews of Clayton, NC; son, Jonathan Henry Crews and wife Ann Simar Crews of Clayton, NC; sister, Brenda Dix Fox and husband Brian of Mount Jackson, VA; and grandchildren, Emma Jean Crews, Lily Hazel Crews, and Aiden Simar Crews, all of Clayton, NC.
