Scott Michael Meserve, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at his home. He was born on March 18, 1970, in Dover, New Hampshire. Scott was the son of Michael Robert Meserve and his wife, Kathy Meserve, and Susan Lee Rennebu and her husband, Vinnie Rennebu.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Debbie Meserve; his son, Ben Meserve; his daughter, Leanne Meserve, and her fiancé, Samuel Cooke; his stepson, Seth Peele; and his bonus son, Mike Parrish, and wife, Briana. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen Meserve, wife Julie, and daughters Courtney and Alexa; his stepsisters, Emily Cade, and husband James; Nakeeta Simpson, and wife Kit; Chelsea Finethy; his stepbrothers, Michael Rennebu, and wife Catherine; Justin Rennebu; along with countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved him dearly.

Scott was known for being larger than life—direct, unapologetic, and real. He dedicated his life to teaching, coaching, mentoring, and leading others, leaving a legacy that reached far beyond the classroom and the football field.

Education was not just his profession—it was his calling. As a longtime educator, Scott believed deeply in the power of structure, discipline, and accountability, and he worked tirelessly to help students discover their potential both in the classroom and in life.

Football was one of Scott's greatest passions. He served as a beloved football coach at the high school, collegiate, and professional arena football levels, earning the respect of players, colleagues, and the football community. Known for his intensity, honesty, and authenticity, Scott coached with purpose and heart. To many, he was more than a coach—he was a mentor, role model, and steady presence who believed in his players even when they struggled to believe in themselves. His impact will live on in every life he touched, every lesson he taught, and every young man who walked away stronger because of him.

Above all else, Scott was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Debbie, and a deeply loving father. He loved fiercely, protected wholeheartedly, and showed up every single day for the people he loved. As a husband, Scott was loyal, steady, and unwavering—Debbie's partner, her rock, her safe place, and her biggest supporter. Their bond was built on deep respect, lots of laughter, and an unbreakable commitment to one another.

As a father, Scott led with strength, guidance, and love. He was incredibly proud of the man his son, Ben, grew into and the woman his daughter, Leanne, became, and he believed strongly in teaching responsibility, character, and resilience. He was a father to Seth, not by title, but by choice and by heart, standing beside him, guiding him, and loving him as his own. To his bonus son, Mike, Scott was a steady presence and a source of encouragement, offering support, wisdom, and pride every step of the way.

Scott's family was his foundation and his greatest joy. He loved without conditions, gave without hesitation, and made sure those he loved always knew they mattered. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the lessons he taught, the family he built, and the love that will forever bind them together.

At this time, the family will receive friends at the home of Debbie's Mom, Louise Wall, at 3244 Old Beulah Road, Selma, NC, 27576.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends following the service at Bethany.
