Sam Temple, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born September 17, 1947, he was the son of the late Clarence Linwood Temple and Mary Gilbert Temple. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Temple; sister, Doris Dean; and brothers, Haywood Temple, Wayne Temple, Charles Temple, and Ronnie Temple.

Sam was a Christian man whose faith was an important part of his life. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help others. Sam was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, never hesitating to lend a hand to someone in need. He was also a hard worker, working in construction and operating heavy equipment to provide for his family until his retirement. 

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 2:00pm, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome.

Sam is lovingly survived by his son, Samuel Temple (Dawn); sister, Patsy Dean; grandchildren, Shelby Temple and Sarah Temple; and great-grandchild, Luke Leber.
