Russell Lee Weaver, 76, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at UNC Health in Clayton.

Born on August 26, 1949 to the late Christopher Columbus Weaver and Daisy Pearl Grice Weaver, Russell was also preceded in death by his brothers Leon Christopher Weaver, Jasper Talton Weaver, and Paul Roosevelt Weaver; his sisters Lillian Liles, Melba Little, Nettie Lou Wainwright, and Mina Gray Tarkington.

Russell was a member of Pine Level Pentecostal Holiness Church. He retired from Johnston Correctional Institute as a correction officer. He then enjoyed spending more time with his friends and family, including many adventures to the beach and to the mountains. He also loved riding his motorcycle and keeping his beloved vintage pickup truck in pristine condition. Russell truly enjoyed taking care of all of the people he loved. He took great pride in caring for his home and yard that he shared with his wife of 32 years, Joy, whom he adored. At their home, he meticulously cared for the lawn and flower gardens, and was delighted when he won "Yard of the Month" from the Town of Princeton. He enjoyed watching Westerns and was known for his sense of humor, and making people smile and laugh. Above all, he loved all of his girls- Angie, Susan, Allison and his faithful dog, "Annie."

Russell is survived by his loving wife, Joy Mayo Weaver; his daughters, Angela Weaver Justice of Clayton, Susan Clifton and husband Leon of Princeton, and Allison Weaver of Princeton; his grandchildren, Caleb, Jessica, Cassidy, Samantha, and Nathan; his great-grandchildren, Carter, Damon, and Lanie Mae; his brother, Sammy Weaver; and his sisters, Christine Narron and Josephine Davis.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Holly Springs Original Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
