R. Roger Whitt, age 82, of Selma, NC, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Roger was born on March 9, 1944 in Tazwell County, VA, to the late Walter Whitt and Leola Hamm (stepfather Earl Hamm).

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Bob Whitt, Jack Whitt; sisters, Nancy Shively, and Lois Sturgill.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Saturday September 12, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial service will follow the visitation on Saturday at 3:00 PM.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Delores Whitt; Tony Whitt and Tiffany of Joppa, MD; Lisa Kellogg and Patrick of Raleigh, NC, Wendy Hovatter and Jamie of Nottingham, MD; Five grandchildren; Jenna Whitt Hardy, Samuel Hovatter, Tyler Carr, Ava Carr and Skyler Hovatter. As well as his brother-in-law, Ronald “Hoppy” Sturgill.

Roger proudly served in the United States Army, giving of his time and service to our country.

Roger loved working on cars, bowling, camping with family and friends, and “puttering” around the house or yard.

His greatest roles were husband, father, and granddad. Above all, he cherished and loved his family fiercely.
