Roy Melvin Eason passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, at Barbour Court, surrounded by his family.
Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Florence Eason; parents, Melvin and Ruth Eason; sister, Carol Eason O'Neal; and brother, Eddie Eason.
Roy is survived by his sister, Lynn Eason Creech (Pee Wee); brother, Jerry Garner (Brenda); sister-in-law, Imogene Eason; grandson, William "Billy" Castleberry (Heidi); granddaughter, Candice Castleberry; and great-grandchildren, Lynzi, Isabella, Madison, and Dalton.
Roy graduated from Smithfield-Selma High School. After graduation, Roy served honorably for two military service deployments during the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the Navy from 1966-1971 and in the army from 1971-1976.
Following military service, Roy would successfully in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator.
Roy loved his horses and his faithful dog, Tango. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, and his favorite car may have been his red Mustang. He enjoyed fishing near Topsail Beach with his grandson, Billy.
A private graveside service is planned for a later date at the Eason Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parrish Funeral Home to assist with Roy's funeral expenses.
