Roger Glenn Sutton, age 87, of Kenly, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at The Cottage at Spring Arbor in Wilson. Born on October 15, 1938, in Johnston County, he was the son of the late John W. Sutton and Mary Anderson Sutton. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Delores Batten Sutton; his brother, Curtis Eugene Sutton; and his sister, Etholea Sutton Dixon, and her husband, Cecil Dixon.
Roger was a strong Christian man, full of faith, and a lifelong member of Carter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Selma. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years. An avid car enthusiast, he was a member of the Southland Car Club. Roger enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially visiting the mountains and the beach, as well as fishing. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Carter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Selma. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Mrs. Faye Bass; his children, Roger Dale Sutton (Pat) of Kenly, Randy Sutton (Beth) of Kenly, and Karen Sutton Hill (Kevin) of Wilson; his stepdaughter, Cindy Bass Rasberry (Paul) of Walstonburg; sister-in-law, Jeanette Sutton of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Josh Sutton (Brittny), Adam Sutton (Kristi), Lauren Sutton, Logan Sutton, Anna Hill Burnett (Carlos), Hunter Whitley (Brittany), and Parker Thornton; and his great-grandchildren, Michael Rhodes Whitley, Cheyenne Whitley, and Holden Whitley, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3644 Old Beulah Road, Selma, NC 27576.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Fran Wilkins and the staff of The Cottage at Spring Arbor in Wilson and Hospice of Wilson for all their love and care for Roger.
