Smithfield – Roger Earl Gower, age 73, passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2022 in SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born March 18, 1949 in Johnston County he was a son of Margie Parrish Gower of Smithfield and the late William "Bud" Gower. Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Harvie Jean Gower.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Killebrew officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his daughters, Kimberly Gower Byrd and husband Stephen Clay Byrd of Smithfield and Melissa Gower Senter and husband William Everette Senter of Benson; brother, Wayne Gower and wife Billie Jean of Smithfield; sister, Janet and Ray Parrish of Smithfield; and grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Byrd, Matthew Clay Byrd and Aubrey Hope Senter.

Roger was the owner and operator of Gower Plumbing, Heating and AC Inc. for 40 years in the Johnston County and Triangle area. Roger AKA "Big Daddy" loved and cherished his family and friends, but most of all was known for having and spoiling his three grandchildren.
