Richard Lee Rybus, age 66, passed away on January 7, 2024, in his home of Smithfield. He was born June 14, 1957 in Jacksonville, NC. He was a graduate of Jacksonville High School. Richard worked as a structural draftsman in both Colorado and North Carolina. He also achieved an associate degree. Richard loved music and the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, hiking, and traveling to national parks out west. He was an avid surfer, who loved the ocean and sharing it with his family. He also enjoyed racing vintage cars with the Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing Association. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Dickerson Rybus and brother, Mark L. Rybus.

A memorial service will be held on a later date.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jane Schofield Rybus, his father, Mark H. Rybus of Princeton, daughters; Angie Rybus and Lola Rybus of Smithfield.
