Rhonda Carolyn Barefoot Smith, age 70, passed away Tuesday evening, May 10, 2022 in WakeMed in Raleigh. Born January 12, 1952 in Johnston County she was a daughter of the late Wade H. and Eva Lee Barefoot. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Sam B. Smith. Rhonda was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Smithfield and was a faithful member of the Order of the Daughters of the King. She twice served as Senior Warden of the Vestry of St. Paul's and sang in the choir at St. Paul's for over 30 years. Rhonda was also involved with Neuse Little Theater as an actor and volunteer.

A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2022 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Smithfield. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall of the church.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Sammy Smith; sister, Sandy Schaller and husband Art; nephews, Ray King and wife Debbie and their children, Katie and Eva King of Blackman's Crossroads, and Adrian Schaller and wife Amy and their children, Adam and Austin of Wake Forest; nieces, Dee Schaller-Greene of Morganton, Samantha Gaedig and children, Jaxon and Hailey of Fayetteville, and Stephanie Williams of Fayetteville; mother-in-law, Betty Smith of Smithfield; and sister-in-law, Linda Williams of Fayetteville.
