Selma – Penny Ann Barnes Sledge, age 69, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in her home of Selma. Born, April 12, 1955, in Hopewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Barnes and Bonnie Pieffer Barnes. Penny was a kind, caring and wonderful person. She worked for many years as a nursing assistant, and she especially enjoyed caring for elderly patients. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, singing Karaoke and traveling. Penny also had a love for animals. Most of all she was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Sledge, sons; Thomas Burney of Holly Springs, Calvin Druitt Sledge of Clayton, Jerry Lynn Burney of Benson, brothers, Calvin Barnes of Hopewell, VA, Terry Peiffer of Henderson, six grandchildren and one great-grandkid.
