Peggy Jean Batten Smith, 80, passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2024.  She was born on July 9, 1943, in Johnston County to Thurman & Ila Mae Batten.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Joyce Vick, brother Genell Hicks and husband Ronald Smith.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly Lamb, Kevin Smith, and Kristen Buell, along with sons-in-law, Eric Lamb and Chris Buell, grandchildren Hannah Morrow (husband Tyler) and Ethan Lamb, and sister, Sandy Millard.

Peggy was a very social person and enjoyed being around people.  Throughout her career, she worked in various industries that utilized her people skills and allowed others to enjoy her warm and caring personality.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Parrish Funeral Home, with services to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, in Peggy's memory.
