Norma Leigh
Potts
July 3, 1934 – March 14, 2025
Selma – Norma Leigh Mitchell Potts, age 90, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born, July 3, 1934, in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Sallie Eva Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Potts; brother, Cedric Mitchell; daughter, Janet Medlin; and son-in-law, Ronald Hammons. Norma was a lifelong member at Parrish Memorial Baptist Church. Above all, Norma Leigh's love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence. She found great joy in seeing her grandchildren grow, each moment with them more precious than the last. Described by those who knew her as loving, faithful, and kind, may we all find comfort in knowing that her spirit will always be with us in the joy of a family gathering, over a piece of Carlie C's chocolate cake, and in all that we do.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Princeton Cemetery.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Cathy Massey Hammons and Sallie Potts of the home; son-in-law, Thomas Medlin, Jr. and former son-in-law, Benjamin Massey, Sr.; grandchildren, Thomas Medlin, III and wife Edith, Catherine Windham and husband Brandon, Victoria Howell and husband Brian, Benjamin Massey, Jr. and wife Kristina, Jessica Downham and fiancé Darrell George, and Adam Hammons and fiancé Kimberlee Gascon; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Aiden, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Palmer and Tobias Medlin, Jayden and Luke Windham, Landon and Annaleigh Howell, Levi Massey, Conner, Damon, and Lydia Downham, and Lathan George; and beloved companion, Missy.
A special thank you to Angela Lizak, Jenna Best, and Carol Warren for your loving care of our sweet "Nanny" and the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice of Goldsboro.
