Nora Novene Phillips, age 74, of Smithfield, went home to be with Jesus on January 23, 2024, at the SECU Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 3, 1949 in Smithfield to Nathan and Lora Peedin. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Thelbert Phillips.

The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Sunday January 28, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Sunday at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Branch Chapel Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Michael Pilkington and wife Summer, Anthony Pilkington, and wife Kristy; 4 grandchildren, Stephen Pilkington, Krisan Pilkington (Bridget), Justin Pilkington(Alyssa) and Andrew Beery; brother, Wayne Peedin; sisters, Pat Woodard and husband Bill, Rose Godley and husband Al, and Bonnie Hainey and husband Richard; special friend and companion, Jimmy Nichols.

In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, Novene was an active member of Stevens Chapel Baptist Church and loved traveling with the seniors group. She enjoyed traveling to the beach, everything purple, reading, and watching wrestling 5 nights a week.
