Nelda Sue Haswell, age 83, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the SECU Hospice House. Born August 14, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and Luther Campbell. In addition to her parents, Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Haswell; daughter, Karen Coley; and sister, Shirley Campbell.

Nelda was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Nelda was a Christian who loved Jesus and spreading His Word to others. Nelda was an avid Duke basketball fan. In her free time, Nelda collected coins. She also took pleasure in cooking meals for her family. Nelda's presence will be dearly missed, but her family takes comfort in knowing she is celebrating with Jesus in Heaven.

Nelda is survived by her daughter, Cora Bridges; brother, Hugh Campbell (Evelyn); grandchildren, Patricia Coley, Chris Bridges, Jessie Bridges, and Kelley Barbour; and great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Andrews, Crysta Bridges, Gage Andrews, Camden Snead, and Elauna Barbour.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31st, 2025 from 12:30pm to 2:00pm at Vision Church in Lucama, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield.
